The Adelaide to Darwin railway line is the crucial link in Australia’s transcontinental rail network, connecting national and international centres with the Ports of Adelaide and Darwin creating an effective ‘land bridge’ to Asia and beyond.

With the direct railway connections to the Darwin East Arm Wharf, customers can access modern terminal facilities, which are attracting more regular shipping services and hence international trade through the port.

Port of Darwin

The port is: Australia’s most northern natural deep-water port, Australia’s closest port to South East Asia, and owned and operated by the Darwin Ports Corporation.

The recent A$200 million development of the East Arm Wharf provides a state-of-the-art facility from which significant regional trade is developing.

The port and surrounding infrastructure is designed to provide a world-class, fully integrated intermodal transport facility, with considerable potential to accommodate future expansion as a result of the growth of Darwin as a key trade centre between Australia and Asia.
